Health & Wellness Services Offered

We believe that everyone should have access to high-quality wellness programs to help them live a happy and healthy life. Often those who are challenged by lack of mobility or inability to pay are the ones that need it the most.

Mobile Acupuncture Clinics

Community acupuncture clinics in senior centers add an essential layer of health care that is convenient for both members and the surrounding community.

In-Home Treatments

Patients who are unable to leave their homes due to illness or disability have the most difficulty accessing quality integrative health care. On Free Range Days, homebound patients and their caregivers receive treatment from our providers without the need to travel.

Chinese Herbal Formulation

Individualized Chinese herbal formulas have been used for thousands of years to treat many health conditions in a safe, natural way. Our telemedicine herbal formulation appointments remove mobility barriers and offer Free Range Health patients personalized and convenient care.

Asian Nutritional Counseling

Changing the foods we eat is the most effective way to rapidly impact our health. In East Asian medicine, foods are classified according to their treatment properties. Our patients can benefit from general advice on one or two items to add to their meals or from a more comprehensive and individualized plan tailored to their unique needs.

Community Outreach

Cultivating a deep connection to the communities we serve is one of our top priorities. Free Range Health actively seeks opportunities to participate in community events and to interact with local businesses and health care professionals.

Education

Helping people to understand the many benefits of integrative health care is the first step in creating meaningful change in our medical system.

How Our System Works

Register As A Patient

Once you register as a Free Range Health Patient, you'll be able to purchase a 1-Year Longevity Expedition (LE) Program.

Access Your Portal

You'll then gain access to your very own personalized online patient portal.

Wellness Consultation

As part of the LE Program, you'll have an annual comprehensive traditional medicine wellness consultation (CORE-C*) which helps us create a custom service plan for you based upon your primary wellness goals.

Goal Tracking

We use data metrics to track the progress of our patients toward your goals. We help you to create personal activity of daily living metrics to help you achieve your annual goal by working on smaller goals throughout the year.

Goal Tracking

At your next annual wellness exam, we will review the goals and evaluate your success in achieving them. We will discuss your results and set new goals for the coming year.

The name of our annual comprehensive wellness evaluation is called the CORE-C:

  • Collect health data
  • Optimize data to build programs to achieve longevity goals
  • Reflect on the progress toward goals
  • Encourage patients to keep making healthy wellness choices
  • Calibrate data to set new longevity goals and expectations

What is traditional medicine?

Traditional medicine has a long history. It is the sum total of the knowledge, skill, and practices based on the theories, beliefs, and experiences indigenous to different cultures, whether explicable or not, used in the maintenance of health as well as in the prevention, diagnosis, improvement or treatment of physical and mental illness.

Which traditional medicine is used by Free Range Health?

Free Range Health providers are national board certified and licensed physicians of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). Diagnosis, treatment planning, prescriptions, and wellness coaching are based in TCM theory and terminology.

What are acupuncture points?

Acupuncture points are places on the body that produce therapeutic effects when properly stimulated. They can used by themselves or in groups to promote health and wellness.

What are acupuncture point prescriptions?

Acupuncture point prescriptions are combinations of points that address your specific TCM diagnosis and wellness goals.

What is the difference between acupuncture and acupressure and laserpuncture?

All three methods stimulate the same traditional point locations to provide treatment. Acupuncture is the insertion of thin needles into the acupuncture points. Acupressure manipulates the points using fingers or hands without breaking the skin. Laserpuncture uses a specific light frequency to stimulate the points.

Does acupuncture hurt?

Acupuncture doesn’t hurt. There may be minor discomfort upon insertion that goes away after a short time. You may also experience a “qi sensation” during the treatment that can feel unusual until you get accustomed to them. These may feel like small electrical zaps or zings when the needle is inserted.

What if I am afraid of needles?

If you are afraid of needles, don’t worry. We can perform acupuncture without needles in our clinics. The process is the same as acupuncture, but instead of needles, we use acupressure or laserpuncture to activate your prescribed points.

What is “Group Acupuncture”?

Acupuncture performed in a group setting. Our clinics typically treat 4-6 people together in the room. Treatments are performed with patients in a reclining chair.

What should I wear for acupuncture?

Baggy and comfortable clothes. They should be able to easily push above the elbows and knees. Dress in layers to help you feel just the right temperature during your treatment.

Do I need to disrobe?

You will not remove your shirt or pants. You will be asked to remove your socks and shoes. You will be asked to roll up your pants and sleeves to provide access to your arms and legs. Depending on the area being treated, you may be asked to expose that area. For example, if you are receiving a shoulder treatment, you will be asked to expose the arm and shoulder. Most patients opt to wear a tank top under a button down shirt in this situation.

What is Chinese herbal medicine?

Chinese herbal medicine consists of combining Chinese herbs according to the patient’s specific TCM diagnosis and wellness goals. Chinese herbs are plants, minerals, and some animals that have been classified according to their traditional TCM uses. This includes taste, temperature, meridians entered, and actions.

What is APIT?

Acupuncture point injection therapy (APIT) combines the therapeutic properties of an acupuncture point with the great benefits of vitamin injections. Depending on your specific TCM diagnosis and individual wellness goals, B12 or other vitamins can be injected into acupuncture points around the body.

What is qi gong?

Qi gong consists of movements that have been grouped together to achieve specific health benefits. Medical qi gong involves prescribing qi gong movements according to your specific TCM diagnosis and wellness goals.

What kinds of issues do you treat?

Our focus is on preventing disease, improving health and wellness, increasing mobility, and improving quality of life. We focus on diagnosis and treating according to traditional Chinese medicine principles and theory before you get sick. If you need care to manage an existing health condition, please contact us to discuss your specific requirements. If your health condition is very complex or requires more resources than are available in our subsidized mobile and telehealth clinics, we may need to refer you to outside acupuncture services more suited to your needs.

Do you need to be a member of the host sites to use Free Range Health services?

Yes. Host sites offer our mobile clinics to enhance the health and wellness of their community. Part of the host site commitment is to subsidize a portion of the service fees charged for treatments. In order to access the services and take advantage of the low-cost fees, you must be a member of the host site.

Do you have to be a senior to use Free Range Health's services?

No, you do not need to be a senior to use our services. We encourage anyone from the community to come in for our mobile clinics. Our host sites may have additional requirements, but we treat adults 18+.

Do you treat children?

Our services are geared toward adults in adult settings, but that doesn’t mean we won’t treat children. If a host site chooses to offer a pediatric focused clinic, we will treat children at this clinic. In other clinics, we will treat minors on a case-by-case basis. Legal guardians must consent to treatment and be present in the treatment area at all times.

How much does it cost?

Prices vary according to the host site. Please contact your local host site to ask about the treatment fees for their site. Don’t forget to ask about the cost to become a member.

Does Free Range Health bill my insurance company?

No. We do not bill or accept any insurance. If you wish, you may view and print your records and a superbill for each visit in the My Records section of your patient portal. However, we are not responsible if your insurance company denies payment. We do not make changes to our records. If you have insurance that will cover your treatments, we encourage you to find a practitioner that is in-network with your insurance plan. When you want general wellness services or when you have used up all of your insurance visits, come and find us!
